I have had some comments that some have had problems when they try to
print out my newsletters from the e-mail message or the web site.
If this is still a problem for you here is
what you need to do.
Go to my web site at www.thecomputerman.biz.
Click on the link to "More Pages". Then click on the Newsletters Link. Click
on the link to the newsletter you want to view and print. In the Internet
Explorer menu at the top left of the page click on File. Click on Print
Preview. If the page looks like it is all fitting on the page width then
you can safely print it. If it is not fitting on the width of the page in
the preview window....you need to adjust the page margins.
To adjust the page margins, first Click on
"Close" to exit the print preview screen. Once again click on
File and then click on Page Setup. In the window that pops up, change the
left and right margins each to "0" (zero) and the top and bottom
margins to .25 each. Now go back and try the Print Preview and see if all
the page is showing. If so, then it is safe to print.
This tip is useful to try before printing any
web page that won't print properly. By the way, this setting should remain like that when you return
to Internet Explorer, so you should not have to re-set it again. Hope this
helps....

**NEW:

and it will open in Adobe Reader from which you can print the newsletter
if you wish.

Printing just a portion of a Web
page:
(This one is worth repeating...)
Web pages are rarely designed with printing them
in mind. Often trying to print a Web page wastes paper when all you want
is just part of a Web page.
The solution in Internet Explorer is to first use your mouse to
highlight the portion of the Web page that is of interest to you. Then
click File, Print and select the option button marked
"Selection." Finally, click the OK button and only the
highlighted portion of the page will print! |
Here are a some
animated graphics for those who collect them: |

Dumb
Laws
We
all know they are out there, waiting, just waiting to get us.
Have you ever been the victim of a dumb law? Well now you can
find out about dumb laws from all over the world. Check out the
dumb laws for my state, Ohio:
1.It
is illegal to get a fish drunk.
2.The
Ohio driver's education manual states that you must honk the
horn whenever you pass another car.
3.
It's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license!
4.
You cannot eat a doughnut and walk backwards on a city street.
5.
Throwing a snake at anyone is illegal.
Why
don’t you check out and see what dumb laws will affect you.
Remember if you visit Ohio, don’t get your fish drunk and let
him throw snakes.

Mr.
Smarty Pants Knows
Visit
the Fact-O-Matic, type in a single word and find all occurrences
of that word in Mr. Smarty Pant’s database. Or you can just
jump right in head first to the topics, and browse to your
heart’s content.
For
instance, choose the odd topic heading of Flan. Knowing that
flan is a desert, it would be curious as to what interesting
factoids you could find on it. Here are some of the results:
“In
El Salvador, flan is called flan de horchata because it is made
with a milk-based almond drink sold across the country.”
“Spanish
writer Vital Aza once said, "If you eat flan, you have a
hearty appetite.”
“The
Green Burrito chain of Mexican restaurants in California added
flan to its menu in January 1991. In an interview with The Los
Angeles Times, Ruben Rodriguez, chairman of Green Burrito's
parent company GB Foods Corp., said the move was due to the fact
that, "flan is very popular with Hispanics, and with it, we
believe we can attract a larger share of the Hispanic market
into our restaurants." When it came to naming the new
dessert selection, Green Burrito chose a name with a distinctly
Anglo ring: "Flan-Tastic."

Healthy
Diet
Here
you will find Medical Diets and much, much more. Need to find a
diet after all this holiday eating? Then I suggest you
start your research at this site.
The
Medical Diet section is very interesting with information
ranging from Heart and Diabetes diets to Allergies and
Pregnancy. For those of us who are regular dieters, you will
enjoy the other sections with recipes, humor, and of various
types of diets. From Low Calorie to the Yoga Diet I think
you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Enjoy!

StarryScapes
“Welcome
to Loke Kun Tan's Astrophotography website which displays
photographic images of celestial objects adorning our night
skies. Some of the objects are visible to the naked eye, such as
the bright and spectacular Comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp. Other
objects, such as gaseous nebulae and galaxies, can be extremely
faint and are visually evident only in telescopes or through
long exposure photography.” Did that grab your attention? It
did mine, I sure couldn’t think of a better way to say it.
Now let me
tell you about these pictures; they are phenomenal. You can even
choose what kind of things you want to look at: Comets,
Galaxies, Nebulae, Star Clusters, or H-Alpha.
I love the
Nebula section, the pictures are in color and my favorite is NGC7000
North American and IC5070 Pelican Nebulae.
The color
photos really take your breath away, and make great wallpaper
for your desktop. However, please don’t just set these images
as wallpaper, read the copyright info and ask.

Dumb
Warnings
In the
style of Dumb Laws, here are dumb warnings. I particularly
enjoyed their top ten dumbest warnings and I think you will too.
A nice section is the random warning which is a good way to
experience the humor of these warnings. Want to just go through
them however you want? Go through their warning index and pick
and choose as you please.
Have you
read a dumb warning on something you’ve bought or operated? If
so you can submit a dumb warning.
You can
even check out the Dumb Network which has things like Real
Haunted House and many more.
Enjoy!

Here is a handy tip
for you: |
Using the [Spacebar] for page up and
down in your browser:
On the Web, when you're reading information on a long Web page,
there are several ways that you can scroll through the page with
Internet Explorer (or for that matter, Netscape Navigator):
* You can use your mouse and the scroll bars
* You can use the [Page Down] and [Page Up] keys
* If you have a mouse with a wheel, you can use the wheel
However, there's another way to scroll through a long Web page.
You can use the [Spacebar] to scroll down a page and [Shift]
[Spacebar] to scroll up the page! This alternate method is nice
for touch typists.
